It has come to our attention that there is a real Internet security problem, though the news sounds like it is straight out of a James Bond thriller. The news articles referenced below spell out a unique problem that is affecting all American manufacturers. There is a growing problem with hackers spying on American manufacturers and government offices. No one is certain if the hackers are sponsored by foreign governments or are industrial spies. Whoever is doing the spying possesses a serious threat to American businesses. In looking over these articles, we have been assembling some simple preventative measures to combat hackers such as: making sure you have adequate and up-to-date antivirus protection, a decent firewall (preferably hardware-based), and passwords consisting of numbers, characters, and upper and lowercase letters, etc. Another preventative measure is as simple as turning off your computer(s) at night. Not only does this deter hackers, it is also good for energy savings, especially in this time of energy shortages.

We welcome your comments and any other preventative measures you may have to offer.
