American Manufacturer Receives Award for More Efficient Solar Panels

In the past year, our blog has posted information on solar and alternative energy. Advances in these types of technology are important to manufacturers over the world and to everyone concerned with the environment. We wish to take notice that a U.S. solar power manufacturer won an Innovation Award from the Wall Street Journal for its work in reducing the cost of Solar Energy. HelioVolt Corporation of Austin, Texas developed a method for manufacturing thin-film solar material based on a compound called CIGS, for copper indium gallium selenide, which is more efficient at producing energy than silicon-based solar cells. Such innovations are critical to making solar power efficient and affordable.
